Frequently asked questions
Plans, pricing and the guarantee
How much do your services cost?
Credit Polish is $79.99 a month, Credit Remodel is $109.99 a month and Clean Slate is $139.99 a month. Credit Polish and Credit Remodel have a $99 initial work fee, and Clean Slate has a $195 initial work fee. See every feature on the plans and pricing page.
What is the 90-day money-back guarantee?
If you sign up for any program and don't see any questionable items deleted from your credit in 90 days, you're entitled to a full refund, subject to the terms on our guarantee page. To qualify you need to stay active and current on payments for the first 90 days, avoid adding new negative accounts, and send proof of identity within 5 days of signing up. Refund audits are requested by phone between day 91 and day 120.
Which plan should I choose?
Credit Polish fits people with a few negative items. Credit Remodel adds inquiry targeting and real-time account sync for people with several collections, late payments or inquiries. Clean Slate is our most aggressive plan, with unlimited challenges to the 3 bureaus and three-bureau reports, for files with many negative items. A specialist can recommend one during a free consultation.
When am I charged?
Nothing is charged when you sign up. The initial work fee is charged once your first disputes are sent, usually about 6 days after enrollment, and the monthly fee follows. We never bill in advance of services performed. The one-time initial work fee covers your first round of work. Add a family member in your household and you pay only one first work fee.
Can I cancel?
Yes. Under the Credit Repair Organizations Act you can cancel within 3 business days of signing without penalty or obligation. After that you can cancel by contacting your specialist. Canceling during the first 90 days ends eligibility for the money-back guarantee.
How the process works
How will I know what progress is being made?
You get an online account where you can follow your progress, with a timeline, progress reports and a credit analysis. Your specialist is also available by phone and online chat.
Do you just send lots of letters and hope creditors don't respond in time?
No. The bureaus and creditors handle millions of disputes a month and are set up to respond to them, so that strategy doesn't work. Every challenge we send is written for the specific item and the specific reason it appears inaccurate or unverifiable.
How long does credit repair take?
The bureaus generally have 30 days to investigate each dispute, so most clients see first responses in 30 to 45 days. Many programs run 3 to 6 months, and files with many items can take longer.
Will signing up hurt my credit score?
No. We get your credit reports in a way that doesn't affect your credit score.
Can I apply for credit while in a Credit Saint program?
Yes. Your credit is your own. Keep in mind that each new application adds a hard inquiry, which can lower your score slightly, so apply only when you need to.
Do I need to keep paying my bills?
Yes. New late payments or collections work against the progress we're making, and adding new negative accounts after you enroll also voids the money-back guarantee.
Is it possible for deleted items to reappear on my credit report?
It's rare, but yes. If a creditor later verifies an item that was deleted, the bureau can reinsert it. Under the Fair Credit Reporting Act the bureau has to notify you in writing within 5 business days of reinserting an item.
About credit repair
Is credit repair legal?
Yes. Credit repair is legal and regulated by the Credit Repair Organizations Act (CROA). The law requires a written contract, bans charging before services are performed, and gives you 3 business days to cancel.
How can bad credit be legally repaired?
The Fair Credit Reporting Act, the Fair Credit Billing Act and the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act give you the right to challenge information on your credit reports that is inaccurate, incomplete or can't be verified. If a bureau can't verify an item during its investigation, it has to correct or delete it.
Can I fix my credit myself?
Yes. You have the right to dispute errors with the credit bureaus yourself at no cost, and our free guides show you how. Credit Saint is here if you'd rather have specialists who work with the bureaus and these laws every day handle it.
Can credit repair remove accurate negative items?
No. Accurate, timely and verifiable negative information can stay on your report for up to 7 years, and some bankruptcies for up to 10 years. No credit repair company can legally remove accurate information or promise a specific score.
Does paying my bills restore my credit?
Paying revolving and installment accounts on time every month builds positive history, which is the biggest factor in most credit scores. It doesn't remove past negative items, but it steadily reduces their weight over time.
Specific negative items
How long do charge-offs stay on a credit report?
Up to 7 years from the date of the first missed payment that led to the charge-off.
How long does bankruptcy stay on a credit report?
Chapter 7 bankruptcy can be reported for up to 10 years from the filing date. Chapter 13 is typically removed by the bureaus after 7 years.
Can you remove late payments from my credit reports?
We challenge late payments that are reported inaccurately, such as the wrong date, the wrong amount or a payment that was actually on time, and we can send goodwill requests for isolated late payments. Accurate late payments can remain for up to 7 years.
Can repossessions be removed from a credit report?
A repossession that is reported inaccurately can be disputed, and you can ask the lender to update or remove it as part of a settlement. An accurate repossession can be reported for up to 7 years.
Can you help me remove hard inquiries from my credit reports?
We can challenge inquiries you didn't authorize. Hard inquiries stay on your report for 2 years and usually affect FICO scores for only 12 months.
Can you negotiate a bill in collections?
You can ask a collector or the original creditor to remove a collection as a goodwill gesture or as part of a payment agreement. They aren't required to agree, so get any agreement in writing before you pay.
